New Direction For My Project

Throughout my entire project I have really been focusing on how to understand the ENSUB's themselves and how to capture them but not what happens when that point is reached. I plan on watching more interviews with different serial killers and studying their body language. Prior to watching the interview I will do research on the ENSUB and look for the physical display of what is said to be expected. Thus far I have studied Richard Ramirez and Charles Cullens through the process previously explained.

Blog 16: Answer 2

1. What is your EQ?
What is most vital for a profiler to perform an accurate analysis?

2. What is your first answer? (In complete thesis statement format)
The medical examiners report within the profile is most vital due to its large and impactful influence on the outcome of the profile, as well as the diagnosis and capture of the ENSUB.

3. What is your second answer? (In complete thesis statement format)
The victimology report is vital to the accuracy of the profile because the way to find and understand an ENSUB is by learning about his/her victim(s).

4. List three reasons your answer is true with a real world application for each.

  1. The first and most obvious revelation made by victims alone is the type of crime i.e. rape, murder, theft.
  2. Bullies tend to pick on a particular group of people which is usually studied to determine underlying disorders or problems.
  3. Law enforcement have different investigative and prosecution techniques based on the person being sought out. Not only having to do with their particular set of crimes but the type of person they are.
5. What printed source best supports your answer?
Victimology by William G. Doerner is the best supportive research tool because it evaluates the role that victimology plays and is used in today's criminal justice system.

6. What other source supports your answer?
The profile of "Jack the Ripper" created by Special Agent John E. Douglass has been extremely useful in determining my second answer because when reading, the victimology report clarified the profile extremely.

7. Tie this together with a concluding thought.
This answer in which I'm stating that the victimology report is most important was going to be my number one answer however I changed my final decision last minute. I still have yet to decide which I feel is stronger or will be my final answer however I am confident that they both have an exciting amount of potential.

Blog 15: Independent Component 2 Approval

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
I plan to create a profile on a fictional character. I will watch episodes of the certain characters I am creating a profile on and will base it off a real profile created by Special Agent Douglas on "Jack the Ripper."

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
I will explain the episode or portion of what I watch and give a detailed description of what part of my profile it will support.

3.  Explain how this component will help you explore your topic in more depth.
It will allow me to exercise my profiling skills using the tools that have given to me by my intership, mentorship, and research I've conducted.

4.  Post a log in your Senior Project Hours link and label it "Independent Component 2" log.
Okay.

Blog 14: Independent Component

LITERAL

(a) Write: “I, Justine Solorio, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 31 hours of work.”

(b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component.
The identification of my whom I've done my additional component with is confidential. Releasing the name of him or his family would be a violation. However, in my evidence I refer to him as John Doe.

(c) Update your hours in your Senior Project Hours link. Make sure it is clearly labeled with hours for individual sessions as well as total hours.
My mentorship hours log is completely updated.

(d) Explain what you completed.
I spent 31 hours with a family whose father is a struggling addict on his road to recovery. He unfortunately relapsed toward the end of my time with them. I plan to still keep contact with this family.

INTERPRETIVE

Defend your work and explain its significance to your project and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work. Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work.

APPLIED

How did the component help you understand the foundation of your topic better?  Please include specific examples to illustrate this.
I was able to see what drugs to do firsthand to addicts and their families. It helped me with the understanding of different mental states people enter and the mind altering affects. Just like drug addicts, serial killers enter a completely different state of mind. My mentorship as well as internship are part of the narcotics division so it helps me with my understanding of everything I do at internship. This experience has also furthered my knowledge within my internship, which would allow me to have more responsibility at my internship.
