Contact name and mentorship place:
Sgt. Saldecke, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
Interpretive
What is the most important thing you've gained from this experience? Why?
I learned so much on my topic and law enforcement on the municipal level. I've also learned what it really means tor protect and serve and what that job entails. My mentor taught me to have courage and stand my ground when I know what's right and wrong. He gave me the strength to handle some personal problems as well and has made a huge impact on my life. He actually helped me make one of the biggest decisions in my life and I am beyond grateful.
Applied
How has what you've done helped you to answer your EQ? Please explain.
The main thing I've learned from all of my research and both my mentors is that the best way to understand a criminal is to learn about their victims. My mentor put that into perspective and showed me how to apply it to my project and different cases.

Blog 21: Exit Interview
Content
1. What is your essential question, and what are your answers? What is your best answer and why?
What is most vital for a profiler to perform an accurate analysis? My best answer is my answer 2: The victimology report is vital to the accuracy of the profile because the way to find and understand an ENSUB is by learning about his/her victim(s). I believe this is the best answer because throughout all of my research the one main consistent thing is that the way to learn about a criminal is by learning about their victims.
2. What process did you take to arrive at this answer?
I originally had it as my number one answer but then I found more information suggesting the accuracy of this answer and I wanted to do further research on it before i officially submitted it. I read the victimology reports from separate profiles and was able to draw more information from it than from the same process with any other component.
3. What problems did you face? How did you resolve them?
I was faced with the small amount of actual profiles to do the process mentioned in #2. I used profiles on bombers and rapists and didn't remain confined to serial killers.
4. What are the two most significant sources you used to answer your essential question and why?
I used the Jack the Ripper profile written by Special Agent Douglass as it was an original federal document from the first generation of profiles generated. I also used Crime and Victimology written by Ann Burgess which is a journal published by a professor who has worked with some of the most renowned detectives.

Extra April Post Full of STRESS
Honestly it's already going to be May and I have no idea where all of this time went. I'm so stressed and just ready to be done. When people said senioritis was a real thing I was skeptical until NOW. Who knew that I would be looking forward to a two hour presentation because it meant being done with senior year's work load. This isn't an educational extra blog post but it is an honest one! Gotta give me some credit, eh? PLUS I already have the info needed on my topic it's just a matter or putting it all together and tying it with a ribbon and turning it into a presentation.
Blog 19: Independent Component 2
LITERAL
(a) Write: “I, Justine Solorio, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 31 hours of work.”
(b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component.
I mentored with different detectives but all under Sgt. Saldecke's approval. I also mentored with Sgt. Alvarez.
(c) Update your hours in your Senior Project Hours link. Make sure it is clearly labeled with hours for individual sessions as well as total hours.
My mentorship hours log is completely updated.
(d) Explain what you completed.
I just did extra mentorship hours by going to the station and mentoring with different sergeants and detectives. I also spent quite a large amount of time with a dispatcher who used to work in forensic science and in the crime lab. I did an interview with him as well for personal records.
INTERPRETIVE
Defend your work and explain its significance to your project and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work. Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work.
I was able to work with law enforcement officials which gave me the sense of feeling like it was I who was doing the investigations. It was the kind of experience and feeling that absolutely no book nor article could give me the feeling. It impacted the outlook of my educational future as well as my career.

APPLIED
How did the component help you understand the foundation of your topic better? Please include specific examples to illustrate this.
I was able to work alongside these law enforcement officials and see what they do on the day to day basis and not whats primarily publicized. Meeting with Sgt. Alvarez especially helped because he had experience working in the crime lab with a forensic science background which is what I might be interested from here on out. These 38 hours were probably of the most enlightening throughout my entire senior project because it showed me that I don't think I want to be work on a federal level anymore. The hours the detectives for LASD do are extensive enough and I can only imagine investigation on a federal level is that much more.

Answer #3
The interrogative suggestions piece of the profile can explain many things besides the obvious such as what kind of character the ENSUB is assumed to have which is the ultimate and final revelation.
3 details to support the answer
- People with disorders require different circumstances depending on their specific situation just the way an ENSUB would.
- The incrimination is the point of the entire investigation and profile so the interrogation technique is crucial.
- Since the interrogation suggestions is the culminating component, the profiler has all of the information already and gives utmost effort to make all the hard work payoff.
